London, UK – October 30, 2026 – Mitotech Ltd, a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing a once-daily oral, muscle-sparing treatment for obesity, today announced the completion of its IND-enabling GLP toxicology program for its lead candidate, MT-1101.
The program included 3-month GLP toxicology studies in a rodent and a non-rodent species. Completion of the program supports regulatory submissions for a 3-month Phase 1b clinical study.
"Completing our IND-enabling toxicology program is a major milestone for Mitotech," said Natalia Perekhvatova, Chief Executive Officer of Mitotech. "It paves the way for kick-starting our clinical program in obesity, with our Phase 1b study planned to begin in early 2027."
MT-1101 is a once-daily oral small molecule that works on the other side of energy balance from today's appetite-suppressing obesity drugs. It selectively reaches mitochondria and indirectly accelerates their natural fat-burning process, increasing the energy the body spends. In preclinical models, MT-1101 has produced weight loss comparable to a GLP‑1 receptor agonist without reducing appetite, preserved lean mass, added to the weight loss achieved with a GLP‑1 receptor agonist, and maintained weight after GLP‑1 treatment was stopped. MT-1101 is also being developed for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH).
About Mitotech Ltd
Mitotech Ltd is a London-based clinical-stage biotechnology company developing MT-1101, a once-daily oral treatment for obesity and MASH. Unlike appetite-suppressing therapies, MT-1101 increases energy expenditure by accelerating the natural fat-burning process in mitochondria. Mitotech partners with pharmaceutical ecosystem to take MT-1101 through late-stage development. For more information, visit www.mitotechpharma.com.
