London, UK – September 3, 2026 – Mitotech Ltd, a biotechnology company developing MT-1101, a once-daily oral, muscle-sparing treatment candidate for obesity, highlighted new preclinical findings presented by its Chief Operating Officer, Dr Anton Petrov, at Obesity Science & Innovation USA.

The presentation explored how targeting mitochondrial energy expenditure could address some of the key challenges in obesity treatment, including improving weight loss outcomes and maintaining weight control after GLP-1 therapy is discontinued.

Dr Petrov's presentation covered three areas:

  • Increasing energy expenditure: MT-1101 increases the energy the body spends by accelerating the natural fat-burning process in mitochondria, offering an approach distinct from appetite suppression.
  • Exploring GLP-1 complementarity: Preclinical data explored MT-1101's potential as a standalone treatment, in combination with a GLP‑1 receptor agonist, and for maintaining weight loss following GLP‑1 discontinuation.
  • Tracking drug activity through a blood biomarker: a plasma marker that reflects MT-1101's effect on fat burning could provide an early indication of drug activity in clinical studies, before measurable weight loss occurs.

"The next phase of obesity treatment is likely to combine complementary mechanisms rather than rely on appetite suppression alone," said Natalia Perekhvatova, Chief Executive Officer of Mitotech. "MT-1101 offers a differentiated approach by targeting energy expenditure, with the potential to enhance GLP-1-driven weight loss, preserve lean mass, and support weight maintenance after treatment discontinuation."

The conference took place on September 23–24, 2026, at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, as part of Biotech Week Boston.

About Mitotech Ltd

Mitotech Ltd is a London-based biotechnology company developing MT-1101, a once-daily oral treatment for obesity and MASH. Unlike appetite-suppressing therapies, MT-1101 increases energy expenditure by accelerating the natural fat-burning process in mitochondria. It is designed to complement GLP‑1 therapies: adding to their weight loss, preserving muscle, and helping maintain weight after GLP‑1 treatment stops. Mitotech partners with pharmaceutical ecosystem to take MT-1101 through late-stage development. For more information, visit www.mitotechpharma.com.
